about

I paint dark clouds across the sky
I always have, I don’t know why.
And in each canvas that I paint,
I see the sinner, not the saint.

I held a glass
that was half full.
I drank the rest, the emptiness did nothing for my soul.
Can’t seem to shake
The clouds away.
I built a paintbox full of black and brown and grey.

Pinholes of light shone through a cloud
When our hands touched in a crowd.
The swatch of color blinded me
But I can’t paint what I can’t see.

I held a glass
that was half full.
I drank the rest, the emptiness did nothing for my soul.
Can’t seem to shake
The clouds away.
I built a paintbox full of black and brown and grey.

I tried to see a brighter hue
Not for me, but just for you.
The wider palette wasn’t true.
I don’t want this resentment, I know what I have to do.

Your stormchasing days are in the past
And I can’t bear to be your last.
I know it’s not what you want to hear.
Is that my raindrop or a tear?

I held a glass
that was half full.
I drank the rest, the emptiness did nothing for my soul.
Can’t seem to shake
The clouds away.
I built a paintbox full of black and brown and grey.

I paint dark clouds across the sky.
I always have, I don’t know why.
